Yup. We like to be fully insulated from the mechanical stuff now. I find it interesting to compare old car adverts with newer ones (because I'm sad). Today they teach you nothing about the car itself; instead the aim is to associate it with a particular lifestyle. Feels shallow to me, and it wasn't always this way.

I agree. Ads should be informational and when a lifestyle is pictured, it should be something reasonable.
