How beautifully interesting Theo. Added to my never ending education. I also found myself reflecting on jewellery and actually how little thought there is in many pieces that I own. With my quest to find freedom, lightening that load might actually be quite liberating! 🤗

Thank you Pam! I hope I haven't nudged you towards parting with something you later regret. But yes, on the whole, I'm in the "less is more" school of amateur philosophy.

There are a few pieces that have some sentiment but many that have sat in boxes for years. Each decade I seemed to collect more and more. Late forties and now nearly 58, with many things, I seem to be letting go of “things”. An item that provokes a true feeling or memory, I shall keep hold of. And this applies to not only Jewellery. In my thirties and forties I had this “need” to buy stupidly expensive hand bags! Do I use them now? Nope! They are in dust cover bags, in a box in a wardrobe! Travel fund feels so much more important and priority now…the quest for freedom. Burdened by handbags! Shackled by Silver! Time to stop!

Yes to all this.

"Shackled by silver"... that sounds like the title of something! A little maxim I keep trying to remind myself is that "we are possessed by our possessions". We think we have them, but it a sense, they also have us.
