Amid Italian rubble, there are questions I can't avoid. This post was inspired by visits to some of the destroyed and decaying churches in the old town of Penne, in the hills of Abruzzo.
Ah, thank you! 🙏 Lots of mixed emotions from that recce – I didn't really know how to put them into words, hence the delay. (Being a total novice in all relevant topics doesn't help!) Hope you're keeping well.
Thoughtfully written. Very descriptive, like being led down an unknown path, something being revealed step by step. It made me reflective. I appreciate the efforts people made - the plastic candles, the woman sitting quietly and this piece you wrote with photos. Looking forward to more of your writing, whatever you're inspired to write about. Thank you for writing something I'm glad I got to read.
There’s an element of the unexpected to what you write about and to the way you write that stretches/challenges me and makes me think and ponder. Thanks. Best wishes! 🙏
Lovely, vivid depiction of ‘this place.’ Bravo.
Oh dear... re-reading this now, it sounds like I didn't really enjoy Penne – which is a million miles from the truth!
