A small epiphany I had while rereading this: perhaps our attempts to scale the universe feel arbitrary because everything is composed of different-sized infinities (at least theoretically, provided the notion of infinite smallness, beyond quark length). Just a passing thought that might tie in with the relativity of perception you've outlined.
Thanks Troy. This is a really nice point. Somehow, it's made me realise that one exercise I've taught myself for falling asleep – by focusing on one precise characteristic of whatever shape or image come to mind (usually an angle or contour) and allowing that to unfold into a new image, which I then focus on in a similar way etc – is perhaps also playing with this idea of infinitely-layered infinities. 😵💫
Oh interesting, that almost sounds like a form of meditation. Based on your writing, I'd guess the images you conjure are rather vivid as well. Am curious as to how much of your thought occurs in pictures rather than words.
